Deadline for Echoes of the Ozarks Volume IV is coming up. Make sure you send your entries to LouTurn@aol.com and put Echoes IV in the subject line. We will be closing the submissions on the last day of July, 2008. And remember, it's only open to OWL members, but it's easy to join. Go to the  Membership form  page and follow the directions.

 

 

 

Guidelines for anthology contest submissions:

*    Short stories or essays no longer than 3,000 words sent electronically to LouTurn@aol.com  Please put your work in the body of an e-mail.  Put Echoes Submission in the subject line. (not responsible for lost e-mails if subject line does not say Echoes Submission)

*    Poems no longer than a single page, can be single spaced, 12 point New Times Roman. Poetry can be sent in hard copy to preserve your preferred formatting.

  All entries must relate in some way to the Ozarks.  Short stories and essays should either be set in the Ozarks, or be Ozarks related by tone and voice.  These can be contemporary or historical as long as they relate in some way to the Ozarks.  Follow the same guidelines for poetry.  Previously published works will be accepted, just let us know where and when it was first published.

*    The first page of your electronic submission should be a cover sheet with the following information: name, address, telephone number, e-mail address, number of words and title of work, 50 word bio, and years you have been a member of OWL.   There is no fee for this contest.  Open to OWL members only.  You may become an OWL member, and then enter.  Membership info and form link are at the bottom of this page. Editors will not chase down bios...if your work is selected and you haven't sent a bio, no bio will be included. All submissions are final.

*    No violence or sexual content will be considered for this publication.

*    Ozarks Writers League reserves the right to edit your work, and will retain first North American rights only.  By submitting your work to this contest, you are allowing it to be edited and considered for publication, and  if your work is chosen, you understand and agree with the conditions for publication.  The work can have been published elsewhere, and can be published again after Echoes of the Ozarks has been available for sale for a 30 day period. No further contract will be required.

Be an early bird, enter now!!!

The purpose of publishing an OWL anthology is simply to showcase the talents of OWL members, and to give OWL members an opportunity to add to their publishing credits.  All funds resulting from the sale of Echoes of the Ozarks by OWL, the organization, are put into the OWL treasury to help pay for meetings and speakers fees. costs occurred are paid by OWL, and Editors for the anthologies are not compensated for their work. Contributors who buy and resell their copies, keep all funds.  OWL members who buy at the discounted meeting price, may also sell their copies and keep all funds.
