Quarterly conferences are held on
the third Saturday of February, May, August, and
November, all geared toward education and current market
information. Well-known agents, editors, and authors
speak at those times, but also included are regional
people with expertise in our fields of interest.
We meet in Plaster Auditorium at the College of
the Ozarks in Point Lookout, Missouri (near Branson.)
Registration begins at 8:30 a.m.
Traditionally, the February
conference is geared toward photography and art, with
the annual Art Show drawing entries in photography,
painting, and alternative art (which can include almost
anything). Photo
entries are due at that conference for the annual Cliff
Edom Photography contest, with the winner announced in
May.
The May conference includes the
annual luncheon on the patio and auction.
The auction is always a fun-filled event and the
funds derived from it help with our literacy and speaker
programs.
OWL sponsors many writing
contests, with all entries due on September 1st.
Winners are announced and cash prizes awarded at
the annual awards dinner in November.
In addition to the Saturday
conferences, we meet the Friday night before each of
them to have dinner, read at open mic, and network among
ourselves.
Currently, we meet at the Boxcar Willie Inn II in
Branson, Missouri.
To join OWL, you may print off a
membership application from this website and follow the
instructions for mailing to the current treasurer.
Memberships are $20.00 before the February
conference.
After that, it is $25.00.
Student memberships are $10.00.
One-day
attendees are welcome and pay $10.00.
